Gamma AminoButyric acid (GABA)

Gaba also known as Gamme Amino Butyric Acid (GABA), a non-protein amino acid naturally present in the body. Gaba is produced by lactobacillus fermentation, has a purity higher than 98%.

GABA has an instant-wrinkle reduction effect that can be seen in no time when used is a skin formulated product and applied to the skin.

APPLICATION: 

For wrinkle products in the form of gel, serum, lotion or cream.

WARNING: GABA may cause a tingling sensation on the skin, if used in excess or use on sensitive skin.  Please always start with a low concentration.  If used on amounts higher than 0.5%, it will feel tingly on the skin.

Gaba is an anti-aging ingredient with the following benefits:

Reduce wrinkles and smooth skin.
Gaba can quickly penetrate into the skin, relaxing tense muscles to reduce small wrinkles and lines. Results showed that after applying cream containing Gaba continually for 1 week, fine lines disappear, the average depth of wrinkles are reduced, and skin elasticity is increased to reveal younger, fresher looking skin.

Repair the damaged skin. 
In epidermis, Gaba can improve cuticle barriers function because it can promote the epidermal cell proliferation and synthesis of involucrin and glutathione. As a consequence, Gaba can reduce skin roughness caused by external factors such as drying, radiation and pollution. 3.4 mg/L of Gaba increases the production of epidermal cells up to 1.4 times respect to control.

Promote the synthesis of HA and collagen. 
In dermis, Gaba can promote the fibroblasts proliferation and the synthesis of HA and collagen, thus improving skin moisture and elasticity, making the skin smooth and tight. 1μg/mL of Gaba can increase more than 2-fold HA secretion from dermal fibroblasts. 

FORMULATION GUIDE

GABA can be added to the aqueous phase and into the water phase, heated up to 60°C. 

When heated in combination with sugars, GABA may participate into the Maillard reaction resulting in some degradation of GABA, so addition at lower temperatures would be beneficial.

When mixed with parts of water, it should not be heated for more than 5 minutes.

Solubility: Cold water and Hot Water

Recommended Usage Rate: 

0.1 – 3 % (recommended is 0.1 – 0.5 % for general skin care products, 2 – 3 % for anti-aging products, when you want to see results quickly)

pH: 6.5 – 7.5
