Malic Acid

Malic acid is a humectant and an organic alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) commonly used in cosmetics for its exfoliating and skin-enhancing properties.  Its ability to adjust pH makes it essential for maintaining the stability and efficacy of various formulations.

It aids in dissolving the dead skin cells on the surface to reveal a smoother and more radiant complexion, it also enhances the skin’s hydration.

It is generally safe for use in cosmetics. It is well-tolerated by most skin types, however, it can cause mild irritation or sensitivity in some individuals, especially those with sensitive skin. To minimize risk, it is best to perform a patch test before use and direct contact with the eyes should be avoided.

It is also a humectant, which provides the skin with essential, non-greasy hydration.
