Ascorbic Acid is a popular water-soluble ingredient used in skincare and is the best form of Vitamin C to make your own effective Vitamin C formulations. It is typically used as a skin care ingredient in formulations up to 20% in water-based solutions.
Because the Ascorbic Acid form of Vitamin C is water-soluble, it will only dissolve in water-based ingredients. If your formulation contains oil-based ingredients, the Vitamin C powder must be dissolved in water first (up to 20% concentration) before it is added to the oil phase.

If you find your Vitamin C powder is not dissolving as expected, you are likely using too much powder for the amount of liquid in your formula.
